Furnish - Accent - Gift!
If you are new to Dogwoods, let me introduce myself. My name is Heidi Anderson and I am a Midwest native and wife to a Southern gentleman from Augusta, Ga.
My husband and I met on Hilton Head Island, SC during a college summer and after many years of dating, returned to marry there in 2000. We started our life together in Atlanta where we lived happily for 12 years and had our first two children. In Atlanta, I worked in publishing as Associate Editor for Atlanta Homes & Lifestles magazine and then in public relations at large firms representing companies like Best Buy, The Home Depot, Arby's, and the State of Georgia.
In 2008 my husband's career brought us back to my hometown, Fort Wayne, Indiana's second largest city. After our move I decided to take a break from public relations and focus on raising our family. In 2011 we had our third child and four years later I was ready to restart my career, but this time wanted to pursue my passion of interior design.
I decided to take a risk and fill a need in our community and open Dogwoods, a home decor and gift store offering fine gifts, seasonal decor and home accents for every room of your home. I loved visiting all the beautiful home stores in Atlanta and always dreamed of opening a store there. Atlanta is an extremely inspiring city for interior design and has the most beautiful neighborhoods with timeless architecture, whether it's a starter neighborhood or one filled with rolling hills and stately mansions. Fort Wayne also has beautiful neighborhoods but there were very few places to go for home decor or a seasonal accent.
Opening a retail store is a challenge in any city and I hope that Dogwoods adds value to our community. My employees are all former customers who loved shopping with us and describe it as their "happy place." Though I love to make beautiful spaces, there is no greater compliment to me than creating a place where people can visit to feel happier. Life is tough y'all!
As Dogwoods approaches its third anniversary later this year, I hope to continue to grow our shop online at dogwoodsdecor.com and through providing excellent in store customer service. I travel to Atlanta and Chicago a few times a year to fill our store with a beautiful selection of products mostly from small companies making their products by hand in the U.S. My personal style is traditional with a coastal Southern flair and though I search everyday for the latest trends I gravitate to the classics that never go out of style.
I hope you'll visit our store in Fort Wayne or online at dogwoodsdecor.com and that we will bring happiness to your home too!
